Job Description:
The
Country Director of PDRC will lead and oversee the strategic direction, program
implementation, and overall management of the organization’s initiatives within
the country. This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader with a deep
understanding of the development landscape, strong networking capabilities, and
a commitment to fostering democratic governance and most importantly the core
role of politics for development.
Key
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic
Leadership and Vision:
- Develop and implement a
comprehensive strategy for programs aligned with PDRC’s mission and objectives.
- Provide visionary
leadership to ensure the effective execution of its initiatives.
- Stay abreast of political
trends, challenges, and opportunities in the context of development within the
country and advise PDRC’s senior leadership on strategic adjustments.
2. Fundraising
and Financial Management
- Fundraising Strategies: Develop
and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial support from donors,
sponsors, and grants and in-kind supports

- Financial Oversight: Ensure
sound financial practices and manage the organization's financial health,
including budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing.
3. Program
Management:
·
- Oversee the design,
planning, and implementation of all PDRCs programs.
·
- Ensure programs are
delivered on time, within scope, and within budget but with focus on key
deliverables and outcomes.
·
- Monitor and evaluate
program effectiveness and impact, making necessary learning adjustments to
enhance accountability and outcomes.
4. Stakeholder
Engagement and Networking:
·
- Build and maintain strong
relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, political
leaders, civil society organizations, and international partners.
·
- Represent PDRC in
high-level meetings, forums, and events to promote the organization’s mission
and programs.

- Foster collaboration and partnerships that enhance the impact and reach of PDRC’s political development initiatives.
5. Team
Management and Development:
·
- Lead, mentor, and manage
a diverse team of professionals, fostering a positive and productive work
environment.
·
- Provide guidance and
support to team members, promoting professional development and growth.
·
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and across PDRC’s regional and global offices.
6. Advocacy
and Public Relations:
·
- Advocate for good
governance within the concept of politics for development, which
presumes that grassroot political participation is central to mobilising
resources and efforts towards inclusive growth and development.

- Develop and implement
advocacy campaigns and public relations strategies to raise awareness and
support for PDRC’s work.
·
- Act as a spokesperson for PDRC, engaging with the media and other platforms to promote the organization’s mission and achievements.
Job Requirement
Qualifications
and Requirements:

- Master’s degree in
Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field.

- A minimum of 10 years of
experience in political development, democratic governance, or related areas,
with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

- In-depth knowledge of the
political landscape and development challenges in the country.

- Proven track record of
successful program management, including planning, implementation, monitoring,
and evaluation.

- Strong networking and
relationship-building skills with the ability to engage effectively with
diverse stakeholders.

- Excellent leadership,
team management, and interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated ability to
secure funding and manage financial resources.

- Outstanding communication
and advocacy skills, with experience in public speaking and media engagement.

- Fluency in at least 2 of
the major local languages (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) is an added advantage.

- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
