The Executive
Director/Mission Operating Officer of Borgu Islamic Mission (BIM) is
responsible for guiding the spiritual, educational, and community-oriented
activities of BIM and should encompass a blend of educational background,
professional experience, leadership skills, and personal attributes aligned
with the mission’s goals and values. He must be very versatile in developing
and implementing fundraising strategies to secure financial support from
donors, sponsors, and grants for effective running of the Mission.
Key Responsibilities and Functions:
1. Spiritual Leadership
- Religious Guidance: Provide spiritual guidance and support to the community, ensuring the teachings align with Islamic principles.
- Counselling: Offer counselling and support to individuals and families on religious and personal matters.
- Fundraising Strategies: Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial support from donors, sponsors, and grants.
- Financial Oversight: Ensure sound financial practices and manage the organization's financial health, including budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing.
- Curriculum Development: Oversee the development and implementation of Islamic educational programs and curricula.
- Teacher Training: Ensure that educators and instructors are well-trained and knowledgeable in Islamic teachings.
- Youth Programs: Develop and support programs for youth education and engagement in Islamic practices.
- Community Relations: Foster strong relationships within the community and with other religious and cultural groups.
- Outreach Programs: Lead community outreach efforts to promote Islamic values and provide support to those in need.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the mission’s objectives and goals.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of BIM, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Policy Implementation: Develop and enforce policies and procedures to guide the mission’s activities.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to the board of directors and other stakeholders on the mission’s progress and challenges.
- Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Job Requirement
Educational Background
- Advanced Religious Studies Degree: A Master’s degree or higher in Islamic Studies, Arabic, Religious Education, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Formal Religious Training: Formal training and certification from an accredited Islamic school or institution (such as Al-Azhar, Madinah University, or equivalents in Nigeria).
- Leadership Experience: At least 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role within a religious organization, preferably within an Islamic mission, mosque, or community center.
- Religious Leadership: Demonstrated experience as an Imam, Islamic scholar, or religious leader with a track record of effective community engagement and spiritual leadership.
- Program Development: Proven experience in developing and implementing religious, educational, and community programs.
- Fundraising and Grants: Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and managing donor relationships to support the mission’s activities.
- Religious Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Islam, jurisprudence (fiqh), and history, along with the ability to provide religious guidance and instruction.
- Leadership and Management: Strong leadership and organizational management skills, with the ability to lead a team, manage resources, and oversee multiple programs and initiatives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver sermons, lectures, and presentations effectively to diverse audiences using modern ICT/Social media communication tools.
- Community Engagements: Ability to foster a sense of community and inclusiveness, and to build and maintain strong relationships with community members, stakeholders, and other religious organizations.
- Strategic Planning: Competence in strategic planning and implementation to advance the mission’s goals and objectives.
- Integrity and Ethical Standards: High level of personal integrity, ethical conduct, and adherence to Islamic principles.
- Compassion and Empathy: Demonstrated compassion and empathy in dealing with community members and addressing their spiritual and personal needs.
- Commitment to Service: A deep commitment to serving the community and advancing the mission’s objectives.
- Interfaith Engagement: Experience in interfaith dialogue and engagement, promoting understanding and cooperation between different religious communities.
- Crisis Management: Skills in conflict resolution and crisis management to address community issues effectively.
- Technological Proficiency: Proficiency with technology tools and platforms for communication, education, and outreach.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in Arabic for religious texts, and fluency in the local languages spoken in the Borgu region is highly desirable.

Requirements:
- Must be able to speak local
languages (especially Hausa and Bissa-Boo)
- Must be residing or willing to reside in New Bussa or environs.
